Public commenters urge clarity on water rights, report road striping damage and praise council

A series of public commenters at the Price City Council meeting on Aug. 13 raised operational and community issues.
Water rights and reservoir control: Dave Cox asked whether building a reservoir would change water share control. The chair answered that Price City owns 5,000 acre‑feet and the proposed reservoir capacity would be 7,500 acre‑feet; other irrigation partners are expected to place water behind the dam under negotiated arrangements, and the project includes pressurized piping to reduce evaporation losses.
Road striping complaint: Ken Huff, who identified his address during public comment, said a striping crew painted road lines without adequate notice and that spray landed on his vehicle'wheels. He also said previous resurfacing left pea gravel in curb and gutters that has not been cleaned up. The chair said staff would notify the responsible department and follow up.
Community praise and announcements: Jared Haddock thanked the mayor, council and city employees for their service and expressed appreciation for local police. Wayne Jackson announced local events including a festival in Helper and a Carbon High School football game, and other commenters noted upcoming bike races.
The chair thanked speakers and noted staff follow‑up actions for public works and youth outreach tied to other agenda items.
