Mac McIntosh, introduced in the meeting as the suicide prevention liaison with 4 Corners Community Behavioral Health, described a series of activities the organization plans for September, including a World Suicide Prevention Day candlelight gathering on Sept. 10, a Hope Walk beginning at Price Peace Gardens on Sept. 13 (program at 10 a.m.), community QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training sessions, and partnerships with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to provide resources and fundraising opportunities.
Marshall and other council members thanked McIntosh for community outreach and encouraged coordination with the city youth council and school coalitions. The council moved and approved the mayor's proclamation by voice vote.
Next steps: McIntosh invited the council to help publicize events and to connect liaison services with the city youth council for outreach and training sessions.
