Avon Inland Wetlands Commission advances procedural items; staff reports regulation revision next steps and enforcement updates

The Inland Wetlands Commission of the Town of Avon considered several administrative and enforcement items at its May 5, 2026 virtual meeting.
Emily Kyle, Planning and Community Development Specialist and Wetlands Agent, said proposed amendments to the commission’s Upland Review Area regulations have been submitted to the Town Attorney and await comment; the next procedural step is submission to Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) followed by a commission public hearing.
Commissioner Robert Breckinridge asked about enforcement activity at 70 Juniper Drive; Kyle said no additional clearing or work has occurred there. Kyle also summarized enforcement status at 425 Waterville Road, reporting no further activity on that property.
Vice Chair Robert Yass moved to approve the minutes of the April 7, 2026 regular meeting; Commissioner Daniel Carvalho seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The commission set its next regular meeting for June 2, 2026. Vice Chair Yass then moved to adjourn; Commissioner Ellen Retelle seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
