Avon wetlands consultant says proposed 75 School Street pool would not harm nearby red maple swamp; application continued

The Inland Wetlands Commission of the Town of Avon continued consideration of Application #810, a proposal to install an in-ground pool and patio at 75 School Street (Parcel #3870075), after hearing an ecological assessment from the applicant’s consultant.
George Logan, a Certified Senior Ecologist, Professional Wetland Scientist and Registered Soil Scientist with REMA Ecological Services, presented the Wetlands Assessment and Impact Analysis. Logan said all proposed work would be confined to a previously maintained lawn within the 100-foot upland review area and that there would be no direct impacts to the on-site wetland or the adjacent intermittent stream. He described the wetland as a typical red maple forested swamp of about 3.5 acres and said the activity was "neutral with respect to wetland functions and values" and would not cause short- or long-term significant adverse impacts. He recommended use of a silt fence as an erosion-control measure during construction.
Emily Kyle, Planning and Community Development Specialist and Wetlands Agent for the Town of Avon, answered commissioners’ questions and summarized the property’s Conservation Easement history and how the proposed work relates to that easement.
Following discussion, Commissioner Robert Breckinridge moved to continue Application #810 to the next regularly scheduled IWC meeting; Commissioner Ellen Retelle seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Next steps include any additional materials requested by the commission and scheduling of the continued review at the next regular meeting.
