The board voted unanimously to concur with the Iowa Department of Transportation’s low-bid recommendation.
Bids opened through the Iowa DOT on March 17 listed Fort Dodge Asphalt Company at $132,289.00, Manatt’s Inc. at $136,505.00, ASTECH at $153,305.00 and DENCO Highway Construction at $154,122.55. The board’s action followed the DOT recommendation and the county’s procurement norms for letting through IDOT.
The Board authorized the County Engineer to execute the contract on behalf of Clinton County after the contractor provides required contract documents, including a performance bond and certificate of insurance. The authorization includes any routine ministerial steps needed to finalize the award.
Project officials said the work is intended as pavement preservation to address cracking on Z-36; the board did not set a construction start date during the meeting. The action was recorded as Resolution 2026-67 and carries the board’s unanimous roll-call approval.
