Thompson enacts zoning-definition update, removes 'Industrial Establishments' after county review

The Town of Thompson Board enacted Local Law No. 01 of 2026 on May 5, approving revisions to Chapter 250 of the Town Code that amend terminology and definitions used in the zoning code.
Supervisor Scott S. Mace opened a public hearing and Town Clerk Marilee J. Calhoun read the notice. Jessica Lansdale of the Lake Communities Alliance read a letter into the record dated May 4. Councilwoman Melinda S. Meddaugh reported that the Sullivan County GML-239 review recommended removing the definition of 'Industrial Establishments'; the board adopted that modification before enacting the law.
The board adopted a SEQR negative declaration (finding no significant environmental impacts) and enacted the local law (Res. Nos. 229 and 230). The vote was unanimous. The board also set a public hearing for proposed Local Law No. 02 (Time for Development) for May 19, 2026.
