The Town of Thompson Board voted unanimously May 5 to approve Extension No. 04 of the Consolidated Kiamesha Sewer District, allowing Saddle Lane LLC (Tax Map Parcel 13-3-36.1) to connect to the Kiamesha wastewater treatment plant. The board adopted a SEQR negative declaration and passed related resolutions confirming notice, findings and authorization for construction, subject to a permissive referendum.
Supervisor Scott S. Mace opened a public hearing on the proposed extension, and Town Clerk Marilee J. Calhoun read the legal notice. Director of Buildings, Planning & Zoning James L. Carnell, Jr. told the board that a wetlands delineation had been completed or was in process; Town Attorney Michael B. Mednick stated the applicant would follow required procedures. No members of the public spoke during the hearing.
By Resolution No. 226 the board found the project would not have a significant environmental impact. Resolution No. 227 recorded required findings — that notice and hearings were properly held, that benefitted properties are included, and that the district is in the public interest. The board also restated the estimated annual average charge for a typical four-bedroom residence at $594.10.
Resolution No. 228 approved the extension and the construction of the proposed improvements, specifying that the total cost — construction, engineering, administrative and legal fees — shall be borne solely by Saddle Lane LLC. The resolution also states annual charges will be set on a user-consumption basis or other method determined later by the Town Board. The roll-call vote was Aye: Scott S. Mace; John A. Pavese; Melinda S. Meddaugh; Ryan T. Schock; Richard L. Benjamin, Jr.
Next steps: the resolution is adopted subject to a permissive referendum and the Town Clerk will file certified copies of the resolution where required.
