The plan lists a medium-term task to collaborate with cities and pursue a "3‑2 mile zoning" (zoning coordination) and identifies priority growth corridors, including a commercial corridor between Waverly and Janesville. The commissioner recommended the city monitor the county’s process and stay engaged to ensure municipal interests are considered.
Commissioners asked whether the county plan included language about data processing centers or related industrial uses. Staff said county planning discussions have touched on the topic but the draft plan does not include specific data center language. Commissioners also discussed that a previously approved code-rewrite contract with a consultant will begin July 1 and invited members to submit suggestions to staff for incorporation into the rewrite work.
