The Ouachita Parish Public Works Committee on Aug. 5 authorized multiple projects and bid actions to be funded from eastside and westside sales tax funds.
Engineer Larry Crosby asked the committee to advertise Mary Street (eastside sales tax) and Pollyanna Drive (westside sales tax) for bids; both motions were approved without opposition. Crosby presented two cost estimates for Frenchman’s Bend Unit 3 drainage repair and the committee approved moving forward with the project with funding from the eastside sales tax fund.
The committee authorized Lazenby & Associates to begin the 2025 road program and approved a D & J Construction Inc. repair on Old Sterlington Road (project under the bid limit; eastside sales tax funding). Crosby also requested authorization to obtain quotes for a handicap parking lot at Cheniere Lake Area 3 and presented a cost estimate for Sharp Lane; the Jury authorized Lazenby & Associates to prepare plans and specifications for Sharp Lane, funded from the eastside sales tax fund.
All Public Works motions were recorded as passing without opposition.
