The Taylor Town Council on July 3 unanimously approved a special-event liquor license allowing Hatch Family Farm to sell canned beer and seltzers at its Aug. 8–9, 2025 event.
Applicant representative Allison Ward told the council the event will use a barricaded serving area with controlled entry; IDs will be checked at entry and wristbands issued to those of legal drinking age. Ward said the main server will be state-certified and trained to verify IDs and recognize signs of overconsumption, and five security guards will be onsite to monitor compliance. She said 25% of alcohol sales will be donated to Tales of Love, a 501(c)(3) pet rescue, and the remaining proceeds will benefit the farm’s event operations.
Council members clarified that approval was based on the permit meeting the town’s criteria, not on members’ personal views about alcohol. The council noted that other local businesses hold year-round liquor licenses and that the permit is limited to this two-day event; organizers confirmed the permit would not authorize year‑round alcohol sales.
Bill Baldwin moved approval of the special permit; April Williams seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The approval requires the organizers to follow the described serving and security procedures; Allison Ward said organizers expect the event to remain family-oriented and that they intend to manage alcohol sales "the right way."
