Oak Bluffs CIP committee flags school boiler, safety equipment as priorities

Ron Fisher updated the Planning Board on Capital Improvement Committee activity, reporting six committee meetings between Oct. 9 and Feb. 4, interviews with ten departments and more than $6 million in requests (roughly $3 million in borrowing requests). The committee prioritized four items for initial attention: body armor for police; replacement of expiring breathing apparatus for the fire department; supportive equipment for the fire department; and replacement of the Oak Bluffs School boiler (reported at about $2 million). Fisher said comprehensive updates from other committee members will be scheduled for the March 12 or March 26 Planning Board meetings.
The Board did not take formal funding votes at this session; the report was presented as an update from the CIP process.
