The Selectboard noted that the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services issued a permit authorizing removal of Pierce Pond Dam; the minutes state the permit expires on Feb. 18, 2031. The board said it will issue a request for proposals to carry out the removal once the bond necessary to fund the work is approved at Town Meeting and a final project amount is determined.
Board members described the permit as clearing the regulatory hurdle and said staff will pursue solicitation after voter authorization of funding. No contract awards or firm project amounts were decided at the March 2 meeting.
