New De Soto Parish tourism director introduced; projects include 4‑H electronic sign, time capsule and National Mall exhibit

The tourism board said the enterprise fund will cover electrical and remediation work at the Logansport courthouse and city park, where termite, mold and wiring problems required attention.
Dice described scheduled and planned events: a rededication of the international boundary marker on June 14, a reception with local historian George Gilmore, and a June 23 time-capsule opening (a new time capsule will be set to open in 2126). She also described outreach efforts to place a Discover De Soto presence in a national pavilion on the National Mall as part of a multi-parish "No Man's Land" coalition, and ongoing coordination with Mansfield aldermen on a new festival.
Board members thanked the tourism leadership and noted volunteer continuity; the outgoing representative said Dice has strong social-media and marketing skills that will be valuable to the commission.
The tourism items were presented as informational public comments; no formal parish action was taken during the presentation. Dice encouraged jurors and residents to share suggestions for the time capsule and offered to remain available for outreach and transition assistance.
The committee noted several follow-ups: finalize electrical hookups and programming for the electronic sign, continue preservation and remodeling work at the Logansport Chamber building, and coordinate details for the National Mall pavilion participation.
