The motion passed with Commissioners Hal Floyd, Michael Gravett and David McElwee voting in favor and Commissioners Linda Liles and John Paschal abstaining.
County staff and the Planning Commission had presented the amendments and recommended approval of the CN and I-2 changes. Administration clarified during the discussion that the proposed text amendments are limited to zoning regulation and do not alter or regulate utility or infrastructure matters such as power or water for data centers.
The tabled action pauses formal consideration of the specific ordinance language until the board takes the item up again, allowing time for further review and for commissioners who abstained to resolve outstanding concerns. The item will return to the board agenda at the next meeting on June 2, 2026, unless the board takes other procedural steps before then.
