Goshen board accepts Police Chief Jose Miller’s retirement after more than 30 years

At the meeting an agency official representing the police department asked the board to accept Chief Miller’s retirement and read an excerpt from Miller’s retirement letter, saying, “Serving this department and this community has been the honor of a lifetime.” The official told the board that Miller began his career with the Goshen Police Department in 1995, served as a detective, motorcycle officer, member of the drug unit, SWAT team commander and assistant chief, and was named the 22nd chief in 2018.
A board member moved to accept the retirement and the board voted in favor without opposition. The board offered thanks for Miller’s service and wished him well as he leaves the department.
No personnel actions or successor plans were announced at the meeting. The board recorded the formal acceptance of the retirement as the official action on this item.
