The presenter said the plan is updated every five years and adoption by local jurisdictions preserves priority for grant funding in the event of an emergency; the county produced the plan and the city’s planning staff reported no direct cost to the city for adoption.
Council members asked whether hazards were prioritized based on local data or agency opinion; the presenter said hazard priorities were developed from meetings and agency input rather than a single dataset. A council member suggested explicitly calling out prolonged power failures in a future update; staff agreed to note that for the next five-year cycle. The council voted to adopt the resolution.
