Forks Township authorizes $250,000 GTRP grant application, approves payments, POs and investment moves

At the May 21 meeting the Forks Township Board of Supervisors approved multiple financial and administrative items on unanimous votes.
Treasurer John O'Neil reported the township's outstanding debt at $688,000. The board ratified a PMHIC medical-benefits payment of $141,355.01 dated June 1, 2026; approved vouchers received through May 18, 2026 for the following totals — General Fund $188,095.46; General Capital Fund $2,855.76; Recreation Capital Fund $124,323.50; Utility Fund $419,517.73; Escrow Fund $64,372.02 — and ratified gross payroll for the pay period ending May 17, 2026 totaling $181,924.50.
The board approved purchase order #3587 to A-1 Traffic Controls for township line striping and PO #3581 to CivicPlus, LLC for $6,215.81 to host the township website for one year. The board also amended prior investment motions to move an additional $11,000 to a PLGIT Capital Reserve account (bringing a transfer total to $100,000) and approve placing $100,000 in a PLGIT term (CD) for 12 months at 3.95%.
In new business the board authorized the submission of a Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program (GTRP) grant application for $250,000 with a 15% local match to fund the Forks Township Community Park Inclusive Playground project; the motion by Amy Blum, seconded by Derek Hughes, passed by roll call vote with all supervisors voting yes.
The board also approved ending the maintenance period for the Toboggan Trail land development project, releasing remaining security and closing out the project once outstanding professional invoices are received and paid, per a Gilmore & Associates memo dated May 11, 2016. Personnel items acknowledged included resignations (Ron Welsh and Jason Vanderburg) and a corrected hire date for seasonal park laborer Ben Gagnon.
All routine financial motions were approved on unanimous votes.
