New road agent to review Deerfield highway budget after board defers adoption

The chair noted the town has previously asked voters for larger paving warrants and that without such voter-approved capital funds the highway budget is limited to maintenance-level work. One board member asked the newly hired road agent to take a close look at Pete’s proposal and return next week with recommendations.
No formal vote was taken. The board’s action effectively tabled the highway bottom line to allow the new road agent time to assess needed operational adjustments and to determine whether a warrant article for additional paving should be proposed.
