Williams briefs Daggett County on proposed compressor station; community meeting set for Thursday

Judy Williams, state government affairs director for Williams in Utah and the Northwest, told the Daggett County Commission the company has begun the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission permitting process for a small compressor-station project on Bureau of Land Management land near Highway 191. Williams said FERC is conducting an environmental study and Williams began public outreach in May.
"We have a community meeting Thursday at the Dutch John Town Hall from 4 to 6," Williams said, inviting residents and agency representatives to ask questions and meet project experts. She said the company expects to begin construction in the third quarter of 2026 if approvals are obtained and to place the project in service around the fourth quarter of 2027.
Williams described the work as an augmentation to the Northwest Pipeline system that would add roughly 83,000 dekatherms per day of new capacity, noting that the company frames that as the equivalent of heating nearly 400,000 homes. She said the new compressor station would not generate permanent on-site jobs but would create construction employment during the build phase.
Commissioners asked whether the station would be manned; Williams said it is generally unmanned and runs remotely but is staffed as needed for operations. The presentation noted Williams' intention to engage subject-matter experts at the public meeting and that the project timeline remains dependent on the federal permitting schedule.
The commission did not take action on the project; Williams' presentation functioned as an informational briefing and an invitation to upcoming public outreach.
