The Village of Bayside Architectural Review Committee on July 22, 2024, approved four residential exterior projects — two fence installations and two backyard sheds — following brief presentations by homeowners and unanimous votes. Chairperson John Krampf called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m. in the Village Board Room. Trustee Liaison Ben Minkin moved each approval and Committee Member Kavin Tedamrongwanish seconded; all motions carried unanimously.
At 551 East Fairy Chasm Road, homeowner Lee Siegman described "the construction of 160 lineal feet of five-foot-high black aluminum open design fence" and raised a concern about an opening from a neighboring tennis court fence that he would like to close. Chairperson Krampf told the committee that gating or closing that gap would require Village discretion and approval. The committee approved the fence as presented and granted approval for gating or closing the gap, subject to Village approval.
At 9097 North Bayside Drive, homeowners Randy and Kasey Boknevitz presented a combined plan to install "63 lineal feet of five-foot-high black aluminum open design fence on the south side," 77 lineal feet of six-foot-high traditional open-design picket fence, and to replace 25 lineal feet of existing privacy fence on the north side. Mr. Boknevitz said he could alter the south-side plan to use an open-design picket fence instead of aluminum. The committee noted there is nothing in the code prohibiting mixed styles and approved the project as presented, including a minor-material substitution for the south side to allow open-design picket fencing.
Homeowner Chris Estes told the panel he planned "the construction of a 150 square foot shed" at 8550 North Pelham Parkway and said the shed's color and roof shingles would match the house. The committee approved the shed as presented. At 8940 North Mohawk Road, homeowner Mark Sirontinskiy described "the construction of a 200 square foot shed" with matching color and shingles; the committee approved that project as presented as well.
All formal approvals were moved by Trustee Ben Minkin and seconded by Committee Member Kavin Tedamrongwanish; the meeting minutes and the four project approvals were recorded as "motion carried unanimously." The committee adjourned at 5:23 p.m.
The approvals allow the homeowners to proceed with building permits and any required Village inspections or additional approvals noted in their permits. The meeting included a short administrative agenda and no contested votes or public opposition was recorded.
