Lyon County fiscal court approves fuel, rock and culvert bids, adopts FY2026–27 budget and schedules road-list ordinance for July first reading

Lyon County’s fiscal court on June 4 voted to accept multiple vendor bids, approved the FY2026–27 budget and employee salary schedule, and asked staff to prepare a consolidated county road ordinance for first reading in July.

The court accepted Max Arnold and Sons’ fuel bid — reported as an effective markup of $0.19 per gallon after freight and markup — following a motion by Magistrate Fowler and a second from Magistrate Sutton. The court also accepted two rock vendors (Vulcan Materials and Marais, formerly Lafarge) so crews can source different rock types by location, and approved three culvert suppliers (Procon, Energy Culvert and Metal Culvert) to cover the range of sizes and materials the county uses. Each procurement motion passed after voice votes.

Magistrates also voted to adopt the FY2026–27 budget "as printed," with Treasurer Abby Guest having provided updated figures noted as subject to a later budget amendment per Department for Local Government guidance.
