The Smyth County Planning Commission unanimously approved a site development plan Thursday allowing Regina Dempsey Osborne to add a third dwelling on a parcel on Belle Hollow Road in Chilhowie for her daughter.
Becca Creasy, zoning administrator, and Joshua Osborne confirmed the proposed home would have its own septic system, a separate water meter and a distinct entrance. Creasy said the Building and Zoning Department requires a checklist of items be completed before permits are issued and that the applicant was pursuing VDOT approval for a new entrance.
Commissioner Robert Campbell inquired about VDOT approval; Creasy replied the process is underway. Tony Dean moved to approve the site development plan as presented; Graham Davidson Jr. seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Permits for construction will proceed after the applicant completes required checklist items and secures any necessary VDOT approvals, Creasy said.
