Northern Rocky Mountain EDD reports Twin Bridges housing progress, announces new staff hire

Wiley Phillips, representing the Northern Rocky Mountain Economic Development District, updated the Madison County Board of Commissioners on a housing partnership that has advanced a Twin Bridges fourplex project and is exploring the creation of a local housing fund to reduce dependence on state and federal grants.
Jim Jarvis, a partner in the effort, described progress on the Twin Bridges project and said the partnership hopes to replicate similar projects in other county communities. Phillips said he is leaving the post and announced a replacement hire: "She her her name is Sarah Thompson. She was working in the planning department at the city of Bozeman ... she'll be starting April 1," he said.
Phillips said the partnership has been supported with in-kind and cash contributions, and that NurMed currently contributes about $15,000 a year to the partnership. Commissioners did not make a formal decision about expanding the program during the meeting; staff and the presenters suggested returning with a feasibility study and potential consent-agenda items for the next meeting.
The presenters encouraged continued collaboration among the county, the economic development district and local partners to move projects from needs assessments to feasibility and construction.
