Roseville approves about $1.8 million in landscaping and lighting district assessments for FY27

Roseville City Council on June 3 held a public hearing and adopted resolutions levying FY27 assessments for eight landscaping and lighting districts, a step required to place the assessments on the county property tax roll by the June 30 deadline.

Finance Director Scott Pettingill explained landscaping and lighting districts fund ongoing maintenance and operations of landscaping and lighting improvements within each district. The engineer's levy reports underlie the proposed assessments; combined, the districts are expected to generate approximately $1,800,000 in the next fiscal year to pay for eligible maintenance.

A public commenter asked for clearer accounting and questioned how much of the assessments are allocated to sound walls, noting a packet reference to a $647,000 transfer that may need to be restored from the general fund. Pettingill said the hearing is the final procedural step and that details are provided in the engineer's annual levy reports and the agenda packet.

On a unanimous roll call vote the council adopted resolutions 26‑178 through 26‑193 ordering the levy and collection of assessments for the city's listed districts (historic district, infill area, Johnson Ranch, North Central Roseville specific plan, Northwest Roseville specific plan, Olympus Point, Riverside Avenue, Vernon Street). The adopted actions send the approved levies to the county for placement on the property tax roll.
