Upper Moreland honors student volunteer with Joseph A. LaValle scholarship

At its June 1 meeting Upper Moreland commissioners presented the Joseph A. LaValle Community Service Scholarship to high-school student Ishika Batak.
Batak described participating in environmental clubs from middle school through high school, helping plant trees at the Farmstead and planning to study construction management and real estate after being accepted at Georgia Gwyneth College. "I have also put in a lot of hard work and effort into my community as well," Batak said.
A commissioner noted that teachers and guidance counselors selected the recipient and that the township will send the scholarship check directly to the recipient's college to help reduce tuition costs.
The presentation was brief and recognized Batak's neighborhood and school-based volunteer work.
