The Lexington City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 13 to adopt two resolutions implementing elements of the LVFD Service Award Program under the Volunteer Emergency Responders Incentive Act.
Resolution No. 2026-01, titled "A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CERTIFICATION ADMINISTRATOR FOR THE LVFD SERVICE AWARD PROGRAM AND THE VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY RESPONDERS INCENTIVE ACT," was approved on a motion by Councilmember John Salem with a second from Dora Vivas. The roll call vote recorded Jacob, Salem, Vivas, Roberts and Mayor John Fagot as voting “aye.”
The council then approved Resolution No. 2026-02, titled "A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE LVFD SERVICE AWARD PROGRAM AND VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY RESPONDERS INCENTIVE ACT CERTIFIED MEMBER LIST FOR CALENDAR 2025," on a motion by Vivas and second by Salem, again passing unanimously.
The resolutions were presented during the regular meeting; the transcript does not specify the administrator named or list member names beyond the resolution title. The approvals were recorded and will allow the program processes described in the resolution titles to proceed under local administration.
