Starpoint board approves hires, policies and 8th‑grade Boston trip; honors longtime staff member

The Starpoint Central School District Board of Education approved a slate of routine items and personnel actions, adopted a new organizational policy and authorized an 8th‑grade field trip to Boston.

During the consent agenda the board approved multiple personnel appointments and separations as a block by voice vote. The board recognized several newly hired staff members, asking Francesca von Giovanni, Sarah McIntyre, Natalie Merrill and Shana Gallivan to stand and be welcomed; the hires were presented as long‑term substitutes being converted to probationary or district office positions.

The board approved a resolution between Starpoint Central School District and the RIC Operations Center and completed the second reading and adoption of Board policy 16‑20 (annual organizational policy). The board also approved the interim superintendent rate of pay. All action items were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; no roll‑call tallies were recorded in the public transcript.

On K11 the board approved a request for the middle‑school 8th‑grade class to take a field trip to Boston; the trip dates appear on the request as May 11 through 05/14/2027 and the board approved the request by motion and voice vote. Chair (S1) called for public remarks after the approvals; the meeting then proceeded to public comment and later moved to executive session to discuss the appointment of a particular individual.

Separately, the board paused to honor Dorothy for 15 years of service to the district. Board members repeatedly thanked Dorothy for her long service, noting her role helping new board members and supporting district operations.
