Community leader urges Starpoint board to solicit public input on superintendent search

She suggested the board select a few parent‑voted questions to ask candidates during panel interviews.
Board President (Chair) (S1) replied that the board is still developing the hiring process and that there will be opportunities for stakeholder input. “You haven’t missed anything,” the Chair said, adding that the board intends to be “transparent to our best ability and also inclusive,” and that more specific information about the process will be communicated as it is finalized. The Chair said the district has platforms to gather input and that residents should expect further updates.
Quinn, who also reported on PTA activities and awards earlier in the meeting, said the public wants to feel included and offered the survey idea as an accessible way for engaged parents and community members to contribute to the search. Several board members responded appreciatively to her suggestion and to the PTA’s recent achievements.
The public comment concluded without any formal change to the hiring timeline; the board later moved to an executive session to consider the appointment of a particular individual. The board said it will provide more information about opportunities for stakeholder input when the process is further developed.
