The Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics met and unanimously approved minutes from April 16 and May 7 and adopted processed advisory opinions on the consent agenda.
A motion to approve the minutes was made by Commissioner Coogler and seconded by Commissioner Cruz; Chair Romano announced the motion carried unanimously. Later, the commission voted to approve processed advisory opinions as presented; a second was recorded by Commissioner Glass and Chair Romano said the motion carried unanimously.
The executive director reported that since the May meeting staff have conducted outreach and ethics trainings for multiple municipal councils and commissions, including Mangonia Park, Palm Beach Gardens, Highland Beach, Riviera Beach, Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Gulf and the Delray CRA. The director also said staff provided ethics training for elected officials in Belle Glade and completed five training compliance reviews to ensure local compliance with ethics-training policies.
The executive director noted June 8 will mark Ms. Lavec’s 16th anniversary with the commission and said the July meeting is scheduled for the second Thursday because of the July 4 holiday.
During commissioner comments, a commissioner reported the inspector general contract was completed at a county commission meeting on Tuesday.
With no further business, Chair Romano adjourned the meeting.
The commission did not take up any formal complaints or disciplinary actions during this session; public comment and a question about state training responsibilities were heard and are reported separately.
