The Essex Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission concurred unanimously with the Wetlands Agent’s decision on Application No. 26-5, which proposes replacing a wooden foot bridge and improving the trail entrance at 30 Bokum Road (Essex Meadows) to create a more accessible path to the existing town sidewalk.
Land Use Official Carey Duques said she met with the landscape architects and applicants and described the work as focused on the planted area and existing walking trail at the entrance to Essex Meadows. She told the Commission the applicants seek to raise the bridge slightly for accessibility and to add stone dust to make the path more gradual. Duques noted there is no proposed work within the wetlands.
Vice Chairman David Kirsch moved that the Commission concur with the decision of the Wetlands Agent; Carolyn Field seconded the motion and the Commission voted 5-0 to concur. The motion record indicates concurrence with the agent’s determination under Section 12 of the regulations.
The approval is a concurrence with the agent’s determination rather than a separate permit action by the full Commission. Any required planting or site-stabilization conditions will be handled through the agent review process described in the record.
