Concord–Carlisle committees seat new regional members and elect officers

Members of the Concord School Committee and the Concord–Carlisle Regional School Committee convened to seat newly elected regional members and to elect officers for both bodies.

At the start of the meeting the committee moved to seat the Concord–Carlisle membership and approved the motion to recognize Andrew Herczyk, Drew Magliozzi, Sandy Picharati, Tracy Murano and Michael Williams as Concord members and Brian Watterson and Lynette Kelleher as Carlisle members. After seating, the committee accepted nominations for the Concord–Carlisle chair.

Committee members nominated both Brian Watterson and Michael Williams for regional chair. During discussion members debated procedure and an amendment to the first nomination that would have substituted Michael Williams failed; the original motion to elect Brian Watterson passed on the subsequent vote with several abstentions recorded.

The committee then accepted nominations and held a separate set of votes for vice chair of the Concord–Carlisle regional body. An amendment to nominate Tracy as vice chair passed on voice vote and was accepted as the outcome.

On the Concord School Committee side members nominated Sandeep for chair and discussed an amendment to elect Michael. After debate the amendment did not pass and the committee voted to elect Sandeep as chair of the Concord School Committee; some members abstained during that vote. Members later selected Andrew Feister as Concord vice chair after an amendment to that nomination carried.

The committees concluded these officer elections before moving to other scheduled business, including appointments and committee liaison planning for the June 16 meeting.
