The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners on June 4 accepted a $66,991.10 donation from Carson Valley Little League to purchase eight shade shelters for Rancho's Aspen Park bleachers and adopted resolution 2026R‑029 to augment the room‑tax fund and approve a joinder contract with a public‑sector cooperative purchasing organization.
Brooke Ady, the county's community services director, described a multi‑year fundraising effort by the Little League and characterized the improvement as a large, community‑led enhancement for spectators and players. "This is a very large project…they've been fundraising to be able to purchase these shade structures," Ady said.
Janelle Hoover, president of Carson Valley Little League, said the local league is required by Little League International to pursue annual park improvements and thanked sponsors and volunteers for support. "Our goal is to raise money to make sure that we keep these parks not only safe but sustainable for our kids," Hoover said.
After brief public comment in support, Commissioner Tarkanian moved to accept the donation and adopt the resolution; the motion passed 5–0. The county will finalize procurement through an Omnia Partners cooperative contract with Playcore Wisconsin Inc. d/b/a GameTime and coordinate a photo opportunity with league representatives.
