Penn State Extension and 4‑H outline summer camps, plant sale and youth preparedness club

Jennifer Mercereau, Penn State Extension Client Relationship Manager, told commissioners the master gardener six‑week session concluded that day and said the extension will hold a master gardener plant sale on May 30, 2026 at 724 Phillips St., Stroudsburg from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., "unless sold out sooner." She also noted that new webinars are being offered online.
Erin Greenleaf, 4‑H Educator, announced that fourteen youth will participate in the residential camp this summer, which she said is the most attendees to date. Greenleaf said 4‑H will offer day camps for ages eight through eighteen at the extension office, and described 4‑H’s active presence at the West End Fair including plans for a fourth annual livestock sale on Aug. 29, 2026 at noon. She also said she is working with the Office of Emergency Management and first responder groups "to launch a youth emergency preparedness club to assist in getting more youth involved with volunteer firefighter and volunteer EMS positions."
The presentation did not include requests for county funding; commissioners acknowledged the program updates and forthcoming community events. The meeting adjourned at 9:55 a.m.
