At its May 21 meeting the Lyon County Board of Commissioners took several governance actions: it acknowledged the resignation of Katie Baker from the Planning Commission, removed Jerry Culwell from the Central Lyon County Vector Control District Advisory Board for repeated absences and lack of contact, and approved a Settlement Agreement and Mutual Release with James P. Haddan and Diane E. Haddan for $3,000.
County Manager Andrew Haskin explained that Baker resigned because she accepted employment with Lyon County; the board thanked her service and acknowledged the resignation by unanimous vote. Haskin also relayed concerns from the Central Lyon Vector Control District about Culwell's excessive absences and lack of contact; Commissioner Tammy Hendrix moved to remove Culwell and the board approved the removal 5-0.
Regarding litigation, Haskin presented a settlement agreement in which the county would pay $3,000 to the Haddans in exchange for dismissal of the action and no admission of liability; outside counsel supported the settlement and the board approved the agreement 5-0.
What happens next: The county will process the personnel change on the Planning Commission, update advisory-board membership records, and execute the settlement paperwork.
