Commission advances Revolutionary War book, May 16 dedication and museum exhibit plans

Commissioners discussed near-final production steps for a Revolution-themed book and related public events tied to a May 16 dedication.

Diane Rochelle said the book (about 112 pages plus index) is in formatting and will go to proofreading; she named Karen Feucht of the Dennis Historical Society as the proofreader and moved that the commission compensate her for her services. The motion to compensate Feucht was seconded and approved by roll-call vote (unanimous).

Bob Hoskin reported the commission signed a contract with Cape Cod Regional Technical High School to reproduce the House Tavern sign (a prototype is complete; material cost about $250). He said the museum will work on hanging and exhibit placement once fabrication is finished. Rochelle said the sign and other items will be staged in the manse and museum gallery as part of programming tied to the dedication and a 12-week museum exhibit.

To manage the many moving parts of the May 16 dedication and the exhibition programming, the commission moved to form a dedication subcommittee of commission members plus invited public volunteers; the motion passed by unanimous roll call. Members discussed outreach, coordination with local color guards and historical organizations, and possible shared publicity with neighboring towns.

Rochelle said she will bring the finalized book file and related exhibit lists to the next meeting, and the commission agreed to continue working with the museum on exhibit logistics and photography needs for the program.
