Board notes greenhouse built without prior approval; State says added residence does not require board permission

At its April 15 meeting, the Wayne County Agricultural Land Preservation Board discussed Agricultural Conservation Easement (ACE) monitoring and upcoming inspections.
Jessica Yoder, staff, reported that the Al Hunsberger property had begun construction of a greenhouse that had not been presented to the board for approval. Board members raised the construction as a compliance concern during the monitoring discussion.
Yoder further reported that the State communicated its determination that state approval was not necessary for permission of the additional residential structure on the property. Staff said a letter would be sent to Mr. Hunsberger informing him that the State determination allows him to move forward with the residential structure.
The board recorded no public comment on the issue and did not take a formal enforcement vote at the meeting. Staff indicated inspections are upcoming as part of routine ACE monitoring.
