Council names interim coroner, approves budget amendments and several agreements

At its May 20, 2026 meeting the Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners appointed Marcee Cameron as interim coroner and approved several budget and operational items presented by department heads.
John Morgan, Council Chairman, moved to appoint Marcee Cameron under section 5.02(c) of the BSB Charter after the council interviewed four candidates; three did not appear. The appointment was approved unanimously, 10–0.
The council approved moving several public hearings and amendments forward: a Sheriff Capital Improvement Fund amendment totaling $48,950 (Communication 2026-205) and two NRDP grants presented by Public Works Budget Manager Angie Mullikin — an $853,000 grant to fund a Water Meter Program for the Water Division and a grant for the Basin Creek Park Rehabilitation Project. The NRDP Water Meter Program grant was explicitly identified as $853,000.
Council also concurred and placed on file multiple routine agreements and reappointments: software and licensing renewals (including a Microsoft Visio Plan 2 renewal), public health agreements for Nightingale Notes and mosquito abatement services, a Task Order to complete the water service line inventory, an Everbridge three-year emergency notification agreement, and several staff and board reappointments. Will O'Connor, Land Records Coordinator, noted a professional surveying services agreement with Everly & Associates and Brown & Associates is billed at $130 per hour.
Votes at a glance: the council approved appointment of the interim coroner (Marcee Cameron), concurred and placed multiple agreements and appointments on file, and moved Resolutions 2026-26, 2026-27 and 2026-28 to final reading and passed each unanimously, 10–0. The canvass of the Melrose Water/Sewer District Trustee Election (44 total ballots) was also concurred and placed on file.
The meeting calendar and committee reports were reviewed; the council referred the GNCDC request (Communication 2026-260) about district citizen delegations to the Committee of the Whole for development of procedures and ordinance language.
