Cabell County Commission approves grants, staffing changes and budget revisions
Summary
In a series of unanimous votes the commission approved a Byrne JAG allocation addendum, appointed an audit committee, re-established a LEDA account, approved a CCERC-911 budget revision, reclassified emergency personnel, and approved an employment in the prosecuting attorney’s office.
The Cabell County Commission on Sept. 14 approved multiple administrative, staffing and budgeting items in a single series of unanimous votes.
The commission approved an addendum to an agreement with the City of Huntington to allocate the county's portion of the 2017 Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program award. Commissioners also re-established the LEDA account and approved Special Funds Budget Revision #1 for CCERC-911. The commission approved an additional $5,000 in FY 2017-2018 Hotel/Motel funding for the Village of Barboursville Fall Festival.
On personnel, the commission approved hiring Kimberly Rohrig as a part-time victim advocate in the prosecuting attorney’s office (effective Sept. 18, 2017) and reclassified Sean Woods to full-time paramedic and Jennifer Nicole Adkins to full-time EMT, both effective Sept. 15, 2017, with pay rates recorded in the minutes. The commission also approved an amendment to bond documents related to the Foster Foundation and accepted letters from Assessor Irv Johnson concerning additional compensation for dog tags and sheep-and-goat tax receipts.
The commission appointed Beth Thompson (County Administrator), April Tooley (Assistant County Administrator), Phyllis Smith (County Clerk) and Jason Nichols (Accounting Clerk) to an audit committee to procure county audit services. The commission tabled item #564 (setting dates for the Board of Assessment Appeals) until Oct. 12, 2017.
