The Brookline Selectboard on April 22 voted to notice John Picinich and James Manion III for the two public seats on the town’s Digital Transformation Working Group, with Matt Curran named as a backup if either designee declines. Selectboard member Brian Rater will contact the applicants.
The group’s charter will be revisited at a future meeting to add alternates after the board signaled support for expanding membership flexibility. The appointments were approved unanimously.
Separately, Tom Roy, the town’s IT provider, recommended several changes to tighten security and modernize systems. The board agreed to require two-factor authentication for town employees to log into municipal IT systems and referred two additional recommendations — moving antivirus software to an ERS system and using separate domain names for some departments — to the Digital Transformation Working Group for further study.
The board directed Brian Rater to notify applicants and scheduled discussion of charter amendments at the next meeting. No public comment on the measure was recorded.
