Council approves setting public hearing for 19‑acre annexation and OKs IMEG engineering proposal

Brandon, the city administrator, told the council that JF Edwards Construction has submitted a petition to annex 19 acres into the city, a necessary procedural step to begin Tax Increment Financing (TIF) processes. "The petition to annex 19 acres into the city of Geneseo ... happened this past Friday," he said, and explained that setting a public hearing now is required because a public hearing cannot occur within 45 days of passage.
Brandon also described IMEG's engineering proposal to design sanitary extension work and a lift station to serve the annexed acreage and said the cost proposal was "$117,300." After discussion a motion to approve resolution R‑26‑04 and accept the IMEG proposal not to exceed $117,300 passed on a roll‑call vote with all members present voting yes.
