Commissioners press staff on repeated turf damage; city readies RFP for turf-field maintenance

Why it matters: MLK is the only all-weather field in the city and recurring damage has forced children and clubs to play on unsafe surfaces at times. Commissioners said stable maintenance schedules and vendor capacity are critical to avoid lost playtime and repeated repair costs.
Staff said it will finalize RFP templates and scope, and will include specifications for regular grooming and incident repairs. Commissioners asked staff to use the app-based work-order system to track recurring issues and to ensure RFP contracts allow prompt repairs.
