The board found a unique property limitation in the parcel’s location next to an unimproved road that is unlikely to be developed, that traffic volume around the property is low and that there are no plans to improve the road. The board concluded those conditions reduced the public-safety concerns typically associated with vision-triangle intrusions and that alternate locations for the addition could harm adjacent landowners by blocking views.
The Town submitted a letter of support for the petition and a neighbor also sent a letter backing the request; the minutes record no letters of opposition. A motion to approve the variance was made by David Held and seconded by Vice-Chair Elizabeth Sukala; the motion carried with a recorded tally of three in favor and none opposed. The board’s approval allows the property owners to apply for necessary building permits consistent with the variance.
