Darren E. Bryant sworn in as Robbins mayor as board certifies April 1 election results

Darren E. Bryant was sworn in as mayor of the Village of Robbins on April 29, 2025, after the Village Board voted to accept the results of the April 1 consolidated election. The special meeting, called to order at 7:06 PM, also included the swearing-in of Village Clerk Sharon S. Dyson and trustees Chanel E. Kelly, Michael D. Collier Sr. and Jeanneen A. Holmes.
Trustee Thomas Harper moved to approve the regular minutes from April 22, 2025; Trustee David R. Dyson seconded. Roll call recorded ayes from Trustee David R. Dyson, Trustee Ernest Maxey Jr. and Trustee Thomas Harper Jr.; Trustee Michael D. Collier Sr. abstained. Trustees Tiffany S. Robinson and Gregory N. Jackson were absent. The motion carried.
Trustee Michael D. Collier Sr. then moved to adjourn the current board sine die; Trustee David R. Dyson seconded. The board recorded ayes from Dyson, Maxey, Harper and Collier, with Trustees Robinson and Jackson absent. The motion carried, formally ending the outgoing board.
The board next moved to accept the consolidated election results for April 1, 2025. Trustee David R. Dyson moved and Trustee Thomas Harper Jr. seconded the certification. The board accepted the results by roll call (ayes: Dyson, Maxey, Harper, Collier; absent: Jackson, Robinson). Certified results recorded in the minutes show Mayor Darren E. Bryant with 628 votes; Village Clerk Sharon S. Dyson with 713 votes; Trustee-elect Chanel E. Kelly with 520 votes; Michael D. Collier Sr. with 508 votes; and Jeanneen A. Holmes with 437 votes.
Following the certification, officials were sworn into office. Rev. Jerome Cook led a prayer. Mayor Darren E. Bryant delivered brief remarks “highlighting his vision for the village moving forward,” according to the minutes.
No members of the public offered comments during the public-comment period. Trustee Michael D. Collier Sr. moved to adjourn the meeting; Trustee David R. Dyson seconded, and the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM by a unanimous affirmative vote of those present.
