The Masconomet Regional School Committee received an update that the district's request for an extension has been granted and that the Topsfield ballot question will count toward the district’s authorization, bringing the district to five of the six required approvals pending Topsfield’s vote.
The Chair said she and counterparts will present in Topsfield on several dates (the 10th, 11th and 13th) and described plans for information sessions and standouts during school drop-off to raise awareness. Committee members discussed what activities are permitted for a ballot question, noting that yard signs are allowed but district resources and mailings cannot advocate a 'vote yes' position.
The committee agreed to coordinate presentations with town leaders and to keep outreach balanced and compliant with rules for ballot questions.
