Board advances summer concert contract, camp bus vendor, playground tweak and a taser budget transfer

Several operational items were discussed and advanced to the regular meeting for formal action.

Concerts: Staff presented a resolution to authorize the interim village manager to sign a service agreement with the Emblem (MLIN) Theater for two summer concerts (scheduled July 17 and Aug. 7). The contract is $35,000 and was budgeted in the fiscal year.

Day‑camp transportation: Staff reported a request for proposals was issued to five vendors for 13 camp trips; two responses were received and Royal Coach Lines submitted the low bid. Staff asked the board to authorize the interim manager to sign the contract, funded from day‑camp fees, and trustees indicated they will approve it at the regular meeting.

Jefferson Avenue Playground: Parks staff (Jeff Maione) described a resident request to replace a climbing apparatus with stairs and a platform to allow easier access to a large slide used by older children. Staff proposed funding the work from the recreation trust fund. The transcript includes conflicting cost references — one speaker said roughly $15,600 and another mentioned $2,500 — and trustees asked staff to clarify the correct quote and funding source before the regular meeting.

Police tasers: A budget transfer of $3,592.64 to purchase additional electronic tasers was presented; the police chief is reported to support the purchase and the item will appear on the June 24 regular meeting agenda.
