The Village of Pelham Sustainability Advisory Board met May 7 to refine its 2026–27 work program and to focus on steps that would move the village toward New York State Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Silver certification, the board said.
The board set a three-pillar framework to guide priorities: Environmental Stewardship (protecting natural resources and reducing climate risk), Social Well-Being (public health, safety, equity and quality of life) and Economic Vitality (fiscal responsibility, support for local economic activity and long-term cost savings). The SAB said it will prioritize achievable actions that deliver co-benefits across these pillars.
Members emphasized translating the framework into concrete near-term items for the work plan that the board can present to the Village Board of Trustees. The board noted existing village work, including the Village of Pelham Natural Resources Inventory (2025), as a foundation for recommended priorities.
The board did not adopt formal motions or votes during the meeting; instead members agreed to continue refining the list of priority actions and to prepare a formal presentation to trustees. A next step is the presentation to the Board of Trustees to seek direction and to integrate SAB priorities into the village work plan and calendar.
