Council announces UDO amendment webpage, upcoming hearings and other agenda items

The mayor told councilors the city has published a webpage linking documents and a summary of proposed Unified Development Ordinance amendments that the council voted to consider on April 21. The page, the mayor said, is accessible via the mayor’s office page and provides a directory to agenda documents and a ‘problems and proposed changes’ summary.
Councilors discussed Charter Commission recommendations and agreed to circulate suggested edits: commissioners asked department heads to identify sections that would affect operations and to prepare a consolidated set of proposed changes for review before opening public hearings. One commissioner emphasized that some recommended changes do not require referendum and could be acted on by the council, while other items would go to public hearings and later votes in November where applicable.
Other items announced for the next meeting include:
• A memorandum of understanding with Rock Dog, a nonprofit providing certified therapy dogs, to visit Camp Saradac (rec department). • An added agenda item for the JW Hemingway PUD with more information to be circulated. • Accounts department items: Citizen Preparedness Corps training (06/10/2026), Grievance Day for tax assessment hearings (05/26/2026) and an RFP award recommendation for finished water flow management.
The council did not take final action on UDO or Charter Commission items at the pre‑agenda session; departments will prepare summaries and the council will open public hearings as the next procedural step.
