School board approves personnel addendum, introduces nine new principals

The Palm Beach County School Board unanimously approved a personnel addendum that the superintendent said will ensure every school has a principal in place before the new school year.
Superintendent Michael Burke told the board the personnel addendum will let new principals begin work earlier so they have more time to prepare. "Based on your action this evening, with the approval of your personnel addendum, we will have a principal in place for every school for the upcoming school year," Burke said.
Deputy Superintendent Jamie Wyatt introduced nine new principals and invited each to give brief remarks. Appointees included Samantha Estupinan (Orchard View Elementary), Koy Lazier (Heritage Elementary), May Nadine Wooley (Palm Springs Elementary), Michelle Jeffries (Hammock Point Elementary), Jennifer Mooney (Golden Grove Elementary), Lauren Hanman (Jerry Thomas Elementary), Jatara Simmons (Roosevelt Elementary), Adrian Dadao/Dowdell (West Technical Education Center), and Joseph Cortez (Historic Carver Technical Education Center). Several new principals emphasized community engagement, instruction-centered leadership and partnerships with families and industry.
Board members and the superintendent congratulated the hires and thanked Eric Stern and the district team for managing graduation logistics and recruitment. The personnel addendum passed by motion (Whitfield moved; Andrews seconded) with a unanimous voice vote.
