Bridgewater cultural council to reuse 2024 grant criteria, sets August deadline

Josh, a staff member who manages the grant paperwork, described the reimbursement process: "Once they've been awarded the money...they have to submit their report and then their request for the reimbursement. So when those come in, we actually have to have it signed by two of the council members." He asked for volunteers to stop by the office to sign about 15+ reports expected this cycle so funds can be distributed promptly.
Joyce asked whether a specific "Townhouse" award came through the Mass Cultural Council (MCC). Josh clarified that the grant in question was issued by the state and that the local cultural council (LCC) does not need to approve that state award; he said the state expects to issue an award letter by the end of June.
The council also discussed outreach: Josh said members should prepare a short Town Council presentation — "like, 10 to 15 minutes tops" — in July or August to summarize the council's work and encourage public involvement. Theo said he will assemble a PowerPoint of submissions after the window closes to help members review applications.
Next steps: Members agreed to finalize local guidelines by Aug. 28, expect financial reports by Oct. 9, and plan to issue final funding decisions by Jan. 16. The council set its next full meeting for July 17 at 7 p.m., when members expect to continue work on the grant cycle.
