Staff described the change as identifying allowable uses such as laundromats, locksmiths and vacuum cleaners under a "consumer maintenance and repair" definition and adding building and construction services (general contractors and specialty trades) to zones B6, I1 and I2. The draft includes a revised table of allowable uses marked in the packet.
No public testimony was offered and the ordinance will return for a second reading on June 16. Staff said the highlighted table in the packet shows where adjustments are proposed and that the changes reflect past plan-commission discussion.
Impact: the change clarifies which small-scale repair shops and construction-related businesses may operate in specified commercial and industrial zones; it does not enact immediate permit approvals and remains at the first-reading stage.
